This series of posters serves as an example of my ability to simplify designs and symbols into cohesive and easily recognizable marketing assets. For the first poster I chose Finding Nemo, my favorite childhood movie. I decided to play on the title by hiding the majority of Nemo but leaving the end of his tail sticking out from behind coral for viewers to spot. I chose a more rounded font to imitate underwater bubbles and matched color of the tagline of the movie to the tail to create color consistency. For my second poster, I used the easily identifiable scream canister from the scare floor of Monsters Inc. I created contrast in the title by placing the white-colored word “Monsters” on the black ridge of the canister and making the “Inc” part black, which stands out against the yellow background. I then maintained design consistency by placing the Disney Pixar part on the gray ridge on the bottom of the canister. For the third poster, I picked The Princess and the Frog, one of my favorite princess movies. Since the movie emphasizes celestial elements and is largely set in the bayou, I wanted to create a silhouette of Tiana and a frog in a boat against the glowing moon. I seated them a considerable distance apart to reference her initial repulsion, and gave the frog puckered lips like the scene in the movie. I also referenced a notable side character, Evangeline, by putting a bright star in the sky above the characters. To further highlight the differences between the princess and the frog, I chose to use a script typeface for “The Princess” and a more bumpy, asymmetrical font for “The Frog.”
